Agile

Agile is going negative tomorrow. I don't think I know anyone still on Agile but it demonstrates how big an impact solar is having on the grid these days...

Negative from 10:30am to 3pm., it is low demand Sunday but I'll be interested to know how low its going to get for the coming weekdays. I'll be checking on the actual wholesale costs as the week progresses.

And I'll be cranking it out on fixed Outgoing Octopus for 15p / kWh for the next week.

A whole week of blue sky forecasted for a lot of us.
18.7kW PV > 111MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 34MWh generated
7 Other RE Coop's
105kWh EV storage
90kWh Home battery storage
40kWh Thermal storage
GSHP + A2A HP's
Rain water use > 530 m3

I note that we were getting power hours from Octopus last year when the agile import rate dropped to around 1 or 2p / kWh last year. It sometimes goes negative overnight but I don't remember seeing negative prices in the daytime before, at least in a non windy day.

I also note that on my Octoplus page, I am now seeing an extra bit of info for "free leccy" sessions, aka power hours.

Maybe they are getting ready for this week ? :xx:

Paying us lot 15p/kWh when the wholesale price is negative cannot last.

If power hours start happening on sunny afternoons, how will people with solar make use of the free power?

I won’t export during a power hour, I’ll just export more later on.
The solar reduces our profit during the power hour, but when the FF power station rake in £12m for 3 hours generation why should we all not make a bit extra…. :)

1030am and wholesale price has gone negative. A good time to pump water up hill and re-fill those grid-scale batteries I guess.

They are almost all charging, except Blackhillock in Aberdeenshire, looks a bit cloudy and cool up that way today. :?

Great data! How much power is that in total going into batteries?

Mid-day, 10.6 GW solar and 2GW going into pumped storage. Good stuff.
2.0 kW/4.62 MWh pa in Ripples, 4.5 kWp W-facing pv, 9.5 kWh Givenergy batt
30 solar thermal tubes, 2MWh pa in Stockport, plus Congleton and Kinlochbervie Hydros,
