I can't see the pic but will when back home or in pub this evening. Thanks. :xl:

I have become so used to the idea of top mounted big old aircons that it too me a wee bit for my lateral thinking to kick in. Something like this size vented out the passenger window would get the job done.

Just a shame that at this size it's still compressor driven. The first inverter type I found was a Bosch 5000btu unit.

Excellent,

4 of 550W JA solar panels £300. Collecting Saturday.

The Vanport is looking like carrying,

1.12kW of panels running back through a 1kW Hoymiles. (Existing, relocated)
400W panel on a single Enphase M215 (existing, relocated)
2.2kW of new panels running back through an as yet unpurchased Hoymiles HMS 2000 4T (Fingers crossed)

We are off to the races once more!

Tidier races too, or possibly regaining low level space for later. Hit up on our first one month 1MWh export up to 19th April. August last year since we've done that.

Will keep looking for small aircon portable solutions. America seems better served in this regard. Collecting the 4 550W panels on Saturday morning in the trusty van with No1 son. Will need to find a spot to store them in as it'll be a while before they are energised.

Try amazon Joe, you have to mess with the search terms but there are a few vehicle / caravan / mobilehome / automotive / vehicle air con systems available

Ecoflow do a portable aircon unit - not sure if that would fit the bill or budget

A few upgrades last week.

Gas line modified to a quick connect to allow simple change over from UK to Euro gas bottle.

Reworked the lower fire cover, was looking a bit kicked in and scraped. Broken Fixings too

Radio upgrade (Roberts, £4), two 50,000mAh powerbanks brought back from Turkey. A 6" usb fan too. Set it to run at 10.00hrs. Let's see if it will run the full 8hrs? A good overnight load removal solution for the LB?

Classic fm isn't troubling the LB much!

Easiest to break into cable incoming from grid and fit a changeover switch with the PV on there too.

Thought I'd hook up PV/battery only to van CU as a first test. Should just be the fridge running.

Radio only

Looks good, a 4 pack of beer in for later testing. We'll see what the battery is at then. I'd likely run the fridge on a day timer to maximise day gain but we'll see how it goes.

It might be beyond the capacity of the LB to run the fridge for long periods as is but at least the groundwork will be done for a lifepo4 upgrade. The Internet says between 100 to 120W running for this fridge. I reckon that's 10 hours per day beer cooling at least in France during the day and that's all I'm really looking for.

Working out well. Changeover switch is now wired back to chocblocks for final simple installation in cramped space tomorrow.

Image

The wee 6" fan ran for 7 hours. It only used 5% of a single battery capacity.

Image

As to the fridge running off solar?

Yes indeedy, cold beer on deck!

Image

I'll know more tomorrow but we seem onto be getting it done to a reasonable degree.

Image

Should have done this at the start as all sockets are now off the changeover switch(well they will be when I fit it tomorrow). 8-)
