Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
Day ahead price has risen 16% today so Octopus has more chance of getting its price.

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
Interesting to note that DFS sessions continue to run and that Octopus refuses to bid below 15p and continues to have it's bids rejected (edit: except Octopus didn't bother to bid today)

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
All bids were rejected today even one as low as 9p / kWh with low wind resource, gas has come down in price recently, less demand due to warming temperatures and solar generation creeping into peak times.
I doubt Octopus will have another one now till next winter unless fundamentals change.

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
Said it a few times now, it's surely more likely for power hours to come into play now given the high solar and high wind conditions at the moment, combined with lowering demand with warmer temps and more daylight (and nuclear back almost to full chat).

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
We've been on the cusp of this position for years. There is a guy on youtube who has done countless videos discussing the"duck curve". However panels have been stupidly cheap recently and we have some of the highest energy prices in the world so there has been a massive rollout of solar capacity (largely on productive farmland rather than rooftops).
Inevitably there will be oversuply on the sunniest days. Hopefully that means more "power hours" for consumers. But if you have your own solar array it will be difficult to use much-if-any grid power at those times!

3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
6x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (14.4kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger
(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

Get a compressor, run a pipe to the house and vent the air inside for adiabatic cooling?

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
Probably little use to me at this time of day, I currently have between 8kW to 10kW coming in, all I would be able to do is hold off charging the batteries to lower my export in the power hours, if it was a weekend I could charge the car though.
If I tried charging the batteries from the grid with 8kW in addition to 10 kW of PV I'd probably blow some fuses, as that would be around 346 amps

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
Saving session tonight between 5pm and 6pm.
Octopus was accepted at 14.8p / kWh.
The incoming solar will help the batteries export even more than usual.

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
Can I ask what's the best way to approach this for maximum gain?
First saving session since batteries installed.
Just export as much as possible during the hour?
