18 panels, JA solar 440w, sorted out by my electrician, I had originally planned on bifacial panels, and when he mentioned he could get some 440W for £55 each, i decided to go with them. I was not expecting those to be bifacials, but thats what ive got. happy days.
The plan.
SE facing Vertical gable wall installation 3 panels, mounted on horizontal unistrut.
I can fit 5 panels on the wall, so there is scope to expand at a later date by using the panels from the back of the shed to match up.
The existing shed, has an asbestos roof and is original to the house. It is badly falling apart and leaking so the plan is to have it ripped out and build anew.
The new shed will be 3x2m, but encompassed within a 7x4m covered area, which spans the existing shed footprint, and an area of garden next to it.
The rest will be open storage and work area, and double as a sort of potting shed come greenhouse eventually.
To comply with planning height restrictions next to boundary walls, and still get a good slope for the solar panels, i have planned on a split roof style, that will let extra light into the shed and give extra storage in the rafters.
Something that looks like this. The blue bits show where the open areas will be. Sizes are close to what we have planned, but not exact.


This is going to take absolutely ages to build, so the plan is to build in stages.
Get the shed built and watertight before winter, then add the rest on.
Once finished the shed will house 2 strings of 6 440W panels facing SE, and 1 string of 3 panels facing NW.
