Any motor procurement experts here ........

Post by ecogeorge »

Need a supplier of non OEM eletric motors. Its for a milk pump buts thats not hugely important.......
Its a foot mounted single phase motor with flange for connection to impellor assembly.
I have googled the plate info but with little success.
From memory trying to source before its an oversized motor in a smaller than normal frame ??
Single phase , 2 pole.
Anyone in motor world understand what i want ? Original supplier is £495 + vat. seems dear ...........
Can give measurements if it helps........

is it face and foot mounted? worth measuring the both and comparing

This should help

If it's single phase I wonder if you could just sub in another 2 pole 1hp motor from a retailer such as Machine Mart. The one posted looks good too.

I like using RS, decent search engine, always has good data sheets then lets you see name/model number to Google alternative suppliers if you don’t have a local merchant

I noticed that suggests 2 pole in the title but 4 pole in the product description?

They also have: https://www.bearingboys.co.uk/Foot-and- ... e-352459-p

the two different same spec motors... I think it's the capacitors

some have start and run capacitors, some just start capacitors....

original motor has 2 capacitors on the Data plate, so it must be start+run needed?

2pole vs 4pole... rpm of it is right, so assume it's just mistake, might be worth checking tho?

Have sent a message to Bearing boys today ......Good evening Guys, hoping you can help.
Looking for a supplier of electric motors as per attached photos.
Crucial measurements are
OD of face plate ring = 70mm
center to center of threaded holes =60mm
Shaft size 14mm (C)

Must be 2 pole 2850/3000 rpm
cap start/run
240v 1 phase
Face and foot mount (its an agricultural milk pump).
Wondered if this is the same ....https://www.bearingboys.co.uk/Foot-and- ... e-299576-p

Shaft size 14mm which seems uncommon.
Also needs to be cap start/run cos heavyish duty -milkm pump.......
Await their reply ......

I have got around different shaft sizes either by using a sleeve with slot for key or turning the shaft smaller and milling the key slot deeper, the shafts are mild steel and machine easily. If you have difficulty finding the right single phase then 3 phase motors are cheaper and more reliable using a VFD even after taking into account the cost of the VFD. Lots of used 3 phase motors on ebay and two bush 3000rpm are the most common, no caps to go wrong.

You have not said why you need a new motor - but if is because the old one has failed, have you considered getting it rewound? No ida on how much that costs though.
