Whenever I see something like that I always wonder who couldn’t be bothered to do the job properly! I was helping out at my son’s school. There is a huge (maybe 500L) DHW tank with a 6kW immersion (3-phase 2kW per phase). It supplied a handful of hand-washing basins and the sink in the kitchen. Couldn’t possibly have been the correct solution!

I pay 7.5p/kWh for electric as to most on here (I thought!)...

I think thats the EV tariff? Whilst most on here may have an EV (?), not all of us have managed yet: I do intend to get one, as my diesel car represents my last tie to the ff companies, but the combination of cost, capacity for work (need to transport 3m lengths frequently), and the need to tow a livestock trailer seems to limit the options in my case.

If anyone can suggest something cheap and electric that can tow a trailer please let me know.

Plenty of EVs can tow. My iD4 has a 1000kg towing capacity and plenty have more. You have to charge more frequently while towing and this can involve dropping the trailer and rehooking which is a faff. However that is only for long journeys, if you’re local (driving less than 200 miles a day) you’ll never have to worry about a fuel gauge again because you’ll wake up to a full tank every morning. 2.4m lengths go inside my iD4 but 3m lengths go on the roof rack.

A cool £23k. Even with £7.5k grant and £7.5k interest free loan from the government, that's just not going to happen for a system which will probably bump up our energy bills a bit.

That is an.obscene amount, put me right off my porridge. Who can afford that?
I just want to get this right, £23k to heat Murrayfield, yeah?

Can we see the quote breakdown? We are now down to 60kWh (£4.50) per day on overnight tarrif to get the job done incl a car charge. At that quote price no cop multiplier would convince me regardless of best intentions.

That is without the grant so take £9K off.
