My useless MP & other political animals..

Just looked this up, (might be handy when pestering a politician)

Certainly my polititcian (intentionally mis-spelt) office has dropped the ball or DNGA-fig judging by 6+ months of silence to emails & phonecalls, a "still" out of date website & contact numbers, ...tip go straight to their local area party number & drop them in it, I had a phone call back from the local tory HQ within 2 hours, but we remain uncontacted 24 hrs later by the same blue dross in office, so not solid success yet by any means.

Standard blurb from an auto reply from an mp is as follows....

"Please note that there is a strict Parliamentary convention that MPs can only deal with matters raised by people from their own constituency"

However..

https://www.parliament.uk/site-informat ... nventions/
A convention is an unwritten understanding about how something in Parliament should be done which, although not legally enforceable, is almost universally observed. Occasionally a new convention is agreed in order to resolve a specific procedural issue that has arisen

I get annoyed when I send a letter to an mp who then deigns not to do more than acknowledge (if that) correspondence but deems it out of their remit due to not being within their constituency.

Periodically you may wish to remind them of that by pointing out the rules that they make up for themselves would not stand up in law if challenged (so stop copping out)

Its far worse than that if my MP is anything to go by. I have a very serious legal issue that needed help and support from an MP. Unfortunately my MP is a qualified solicitor who keeps his snout in the trough to the tune of 3.5k per month for 15 hrs work. So when the issue is against a fellow solicitor all sense of justice goes straight out the window.

We're lucky we have a greasy pole climber but he did get us £13,000,000 for a train station so we can't complain, he's still not getting my vote next time though. Next constituency has Sir G. Cox, nuff said really.

We seem to be quite fortunate as our MP Mr Hywel Williams is readily contactable and generally very busy around parliament pushing the North Wales agenda and pursuing answers regarding central government directives and their impacts for the folk of Arfon.

Have to say I found my 3 previous MPs all very good at responding to letters and concerns, even if one of them I was completely and utterly politically opposed to. Likewise my local councillors and even the LGA members I've contacted in the past.

To continue this thread...

Yesterday, 3.15 pm ish, I finally (after many months of silence, unanswered calls & emails) had a reply from my mps office...

I put it down to my snotty " enough is enough" email via "write to them" (24th may) in. which I requested an appointment in order to compain about my mp's office staff (& to pursue the original element of contact)

New young office spod, foot in the door... (I had enough wits about me to look him up on linked in)

Durham university undergrad, still in attendance, posh boy, using familial connections to do underling work in various govt depts, including Dept if ENERGY SECURITY & NET ZERO.. ..he must be useless to be in my mp's office currently.

Now then, this is a guy who "has heard of Tesla, but knows nothing about them / the brand" ,,in a farking office (crowing on linked in about progress made in the net zero office) who knows precisely fark all about the kit needed to assist reaching the goals.

Causal effect: a constant stream of untrained spods being paid to "learn on the job" who have no intention of staying any longer than they have to in a political greasy pole placement competition, AND you wonder why a response to my wifes original complaint & my subsequent co-signed chase ups has been sitting in my mps office since early fricking march! ( this being late june now) ..& still not forwarded on as stated for me to look at & follow up on (because it is apparantly the police "asking us" to make an offical complaint (for which I will charge for my time as clearly a crime number & legitimate request for police assistance when denied access is not enough..

You cannot work in this manner in industry, but it is clearly the norm for politics, ...contributing towards why our arses are hanging out of our trousers in this country.

Speaks mounds for my MP too (a revolving door of "temping" incompetents) ..no wonder his office costs are some of the lowest in the country, he is not paying for people who can do the job needed, nor answering constituents..

Politics is a game, for others it's a matter of life or death.

Is this how other members politicians operate with favoured interns rather than competent long term staff?
