Re: 2027 lunar eclipse
You mean a Solar Eclipse, I would not be travelling to see a lunar eclipse.Moxi wrote: ↑Mon Jun 23, 2025 11:17 am Get your holiday plans arranged Nowty, one of the longest and most viewed lunar eclipses is coming to southern Europe/ North Africa

Yes, already on it, not sure which to do, my shortlist is Tunisia, probably the easiest.
Egypt (goes through Cairo but don’t want to go there again as last time we got caught up in a battle between Coptic Christian’s and Muslims near the grand mosque, circa 15 dead 150 injured and we were trapped in a car and our driver was crapping himself, its a long story.
Other place is Jeddah in Saudi Arabia or a Red Sea cruise which is our favorite assume the missiles aren’t still flying.
Although its a very long eclipse, that’s actually not as spectacular as the moon (being larger as closer to the earth) will block out the solar flares.
Edit - And after that one, it gets really difficult to see another in our lifetime without some extreme travel.

There is also another one next year starting SW of Iceland, down off the west coast of Ireland and finishing the very extreme tip of NW Spain.
I think it’s going to be a low in the sky one so more likely spoiled by cloud. But we will almost certainly give it a go as it’s relatively close to us for travel from the UK.
Again an eclipse cruise might be the best bet.
