In Prague for a few days - noticed these

The arrays are being used to charge the river cruise boats - probably 75% of this operators fleet appears to be electric.

First time I’ve seen one of the ‘flower’ arrays in person.

They’re big !

Did you get to see them "folded"? The idea is that of the various possible tracker types, quite storm safe*. Also, the design usually has provision =for self cleaning (brushes on the underside of the petals clean the one below it when folding/unfolding)

Pricey though.Generally can collect more EV for the buck from a larger but cheaper fixed array. But on a ship, cannot use that arger fixed array. Not just because of available space but changing orientation.

* Fully folded the remaining single "petal" would be positioned vertically down adjacent to the supporting "stem"

I probably should add (since part of the cost/benefit analysis) that the company making these makes the point that more "portable". Featured plus in their advertising.

In other words, if you move house, could come with you at far lower cost than moving that larger equivalent fixed ground mount array. You would only be leaving behind the slab/base and the unit itself, when folded, could be easily trucked. So maybe the only way to go for folks who think they might be moving in a few years.

We came the ‘reverse’ way down the river today and noticed another.

Given the limited real estate, this is probably the best option for this company particularly as, I think, the array is solar tracking.
