Ford "Capri" re-born

#1

Post by dan_b »

Hmm - the Ford Capri I remember was a 2-door coupe, trying to be Europe's version of the Mustang.
But then I guess Ford has relaunced the Mustang as a large SUV, so turning the Capri into what looks almost identical to a Polestar 2 from the side makes some sort of sense!

Either way, it's another BEV to choose from.

At 4,634 mm long, 2,063 mm wide, and 1,626 mm tall, the new Ford Capri EV is nothing like the original

I reckon its bonnet height is more than the roof height of the original!

It looks like the Capri is actually built using the VW MEB platform - it's essentially the same as the Skoda Enyaq/ VW iD4/ Audi Q4 etron. That explains the very high, blunt nose.

And it seems the other Ford EV with a name the same as an ICE muscle car - the Mustang - well that is under the skin a frankeinstein's monster of a platform mash up as it's based on the Ford Focus/Kuga platform with a bunch of batteries jammed into the voids. No wonder the cooling system on that is more complex than Spaghetti Junction!
