A pity. Couldn't they have just upgraded the batteries and electronics and kept pushing them out?dan_b wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 5:04 pm Oh dear. GM is going to do it again.

One needs to read to the bottom lines - the ‘equinox’, a new model, to be released later this year, will (presumably) be an improvement on the bol- and at around the same price for the ‘entry versions’.
Time to move on from their ‘higher-risk-of-fire’ model. A bit like nissan and their passive battery cooling in the leaf…

Re: GM to kill off Bolt production in 2023
I agree with others. Time for GM to admit their errors with the design of the Bolt and move on to a totally new design with a blank sheet of paper and a whole load of lessons learned. Wish other manufacturers would do the same.
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
6x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (14.4kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger
(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

Re: GM to kill off Bolt production in 2023
Have to say, I thought they would drop the Bolt or re-name it after the LG batt fires/fiasco. So maybe this was just face saving, keep going for a while then move on.
GM have made so many announcements about their huge BEV aims and targets, that I've lost count, but I think they were supposed to have 20 (or more) BEV models available by the end of 2022. Also to have caught, or catching Tesla by now. But I think Mary Barra was including all of the sales of the Wuling Mini-EV in those figures. That's the tiny Chinese BEV that costs ~$6k, makes about $30 profit and isn't actually a GM vehicle, but they have a minority JV (joint venture) stake in it.

8.7kWp PV [2.12kWp SSW + 4.61kWp ESE PV + 2.0kWp WNW PV]
Two BEV's.
Two small A2A heatpumps.
20kWh Battery storage.

Re: GM to kill off Bolt production in 2023
So it begins! Legacy finding EVs to make profitable is hard!
Moron Stanley saying legacy should back off EV investment to maintain ICE profits!
ICE sales collapsing in most markets, £40k+ new vehicle purchase would need particular corner case to be ICE today. £25k+ by 2026 I suspect.
I also think it comes down to monthly spend. Lot of new cars are PCP or lease. Tesla already talking about in house finance. You get the model 2 down to £3k down and £250 a month they won't be able to print them fast enough!
Interesting few years ahead....
