I was on the YTS with British Steel at their Deadman’s Hole Lane training centre at Templeborough £27.30 a week, I was properly crushed when my dad demanded 20 quid a week of it for house keeping, still it taught me the value of money and I saved up like crazy to buy myself my first air rifle which was a Wheirarch HW 77 for a hundred and five pounds brand new back in 1986. Still got that gun and it’s worth more now than when I bought it but I wouldn’t part with it.
