CT clamp direction battery only storage, no PV.

#1

Post by Bash »

I am part way through installing battery only storage, to utilise cheap rate overnight electricity and discharge the battery during the day.

The inverter I have installed is the Solis AC-Coupled S6-EA1P6K-L and will be pairing this up to a Seplos V4 Kit from Fogstar once I have built it.

My question is around the direction of the Eastron CT clamp that is supplied with the Solis inverter.

I have installed the CT clamp on the incoming live wire from the grid, pointing away from the grid (towards the smart meter). This is working as I think correctly, showing the correct positive kwh draw from the grid.

It does however seem to have an issue with the Solis Cloud software, which is reporting that I am exporting to the grid with no load to the house.

I have checked the manual which says to have the CT clamp pointing towards the grid, so I have changed it around. This does now show the correct incoming load from the grid to the house.

However, the Eastron meter is now showing a negative kwh load the house.

For all the hunting on the internet I cannot get my head around which way round it should all go!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

My Eastron CT clamp (arrow) is pointing towards the GRID.

It is clamped on the LIVE ( brown ) . . . . . [ Consumer Unit ] -> [ CT clamp ] -> [ Dual-pole Isolater ] -> [ Smart Meter ] -> [ Main Supply Fuse ]

Here, the "Active Power" (W) display shows a credible Wattage number.
