Difference between ME3000 Versions

I've just started installing my second ME3000 to give me higher output at peak times. This one is a Version 3.00, whereas my original one is Version 1.9. Anyone know what the difference is between the different versions? A few years ago, I flashed my V1.9 with more recent software - V3.12. It won't handle firmware more recent that that. So I guess there is some hardware difference between the earlier and later models.

No idea but mine is apparently V1.0 hardware and I'm now running it with v3.4 firmware (to support US5000C).

All mine are the V1.0 hardware too, and I've had no problems upgrading to the latest V3.40 firmware.

Mine won't run higher than 3.14 without causing the screen display to crash. Actually, even with 3.14, the screen crashes occasionally (for some reason, if the battery is charged to a high percentage all night). With anything later, I can't get a display. I updated it to run with US5000 batteries, but having found a stable(ish) firmware, I didn't want to be greedy and end up bricking the thing!
My current battery bank is 2 x US5000 and 4xUS2000. According to Sofar, the inverter will cope with a mixed battery bank, but in practice, it discharges all batteries at the same rate - so there is still 5kWh left in the US5000 when the inverter switches off due to low battery. That's another reason I want to get my second ME3000 up and running.

I am also on hardware 1.00. I have had no problems with updates - currently running firmware 3.30.
I did read that someone encountered upgrade problems with some versions and so did some intermediate updates to get to the latest. Maybe worth trying something close to 3.14 first?
Also, the update doesn't always work first time - sometimes it does, sometimes it takes 3 attempts.
My unit was bought in 2020.

Yes, I did try working my way up through the updates. Initially I tried the latest version and thought I had bricked it. So I reflashed a very early version and got it working again, so then I worked my way up through them and found the most recent that worked. I would like to get it running the latest firmware, but, as the version I've got runs the US5000 batteries, I figured Im probably better off playing it safe and leaving it as it is!

I've not had a problem running any of the firmwares up to 3.25, on any age inverter other than when updating to the (about) 3.12 version firmware (can't remember the exact ones now) which did seem to result in screen/ led problems every now and then.
Will try 3.4 soon.

My first ME3000SP is V1.0, and it is currently running 3.12 firmware. I couldn't get it to work later firmware when I did the upgrade. I think 3.24 was about the latest available at the time. I flashed progressively earlier versions until it started working again - and 3.12 was it.
The screen issues seem to occur after the inverter has been charging in 'time-of'use' mode (ie charging on cheap night time electricity). Only seems to occur when a decent amount of charge is needed. So it's only a problem in the middle of winter, and probably one night in five where batteries need full or near full recharge. Easy enough to clear - turn mains isolator off. Press and hold the red button for a couple of seconds on the master battery to switch off DC power. Wait 30seconds. Press and hold red button for a few seconds to restart the battery. Turn on AC power. Bit of a pain, but I live with it rather than risk bricking the inverter to sort it out!

I'm running all mine on 3.4 now with no problems other than every now and then the RS485 stops working. (That happens with all versions). A reboot of the ME3000 sorts it and I now have node red send me an Alexa alert when it happens.
