I think what Richard is inferring they’d charge all use except the car at peak rate which never happens when you have a schedule.
I suspect that all use will be charged at 7p and they know how much has gone into the car and that will be credited.
I tried to get a schedule that wasn’t 2-3pm and just export without the car charging but every schedule included 2-3pm and anything up to 4.30pm
They want cars charging this afternoon…..

Yeah that's what I meant.

Instead of the usual 7p/kWh they charge everything at when EV charging, they could cheekily charge all non EV electricity at 30p/kWh to counter-balance the freebie EV charging.

Octopus were quite clear that if you're on IOG only the car charging would be credited. All other use would be peak rate.

So, my experience was;

* Plug in at 1.55.
* Got a schedule from 1.55 to 3.30pm. Car started charging.
* At 2pm, Octopus sent a "Cancel boost" to my Zappi.
* New schedule came through. 2pm to 3pm and then 4pm to 4.30pm
* Car started charging.
* I unplugged the car

So this is what Octopus effectively said would happen. They're going to meter the car charge (in my case, from the Zappi's register) and credit that. All other pull will be peak rate.

This doesn't work at all for us, as I'd have to ensure the home battery covered the house use and nothing else.
I could fix this with a rewire so that the home battery doesn't "see" the car load, but I'm not minded to.

That is very true. And of course, the "usual tariff price" (their words), if a charge is scheduled by Octopus, would be 7p/kWh.

Someone in this thread said the messaging hasn't been very clear and I'd have to agree. Let's see what happens when the bills come through. Hopefully no-one's paying the peak rate.

Plugged car in at 13:45... Got a slot.

Started charging...

Somewhere between 14:00 - 14:30 stopped charging as octopus changed the slot it gave me (seems to be a glitch with the MG4 and Ohme charger) to a different one. Car doesn't seem to carry on charging unless I unplug and plug in again when this happens.

House using the batteries anyways so zero household use as always.

I got a slot but exported during the whole hour as it wasn’t clear what would be credited.
No electric went into the car and I unplugged just after 2.30pm and went out……
