February Generation 2024

Well been a mixed bag for my two systems.

FIT system has been working flat out, but have had troubles with the Sunsynk one. Installer had wired all 10 panels onto one string, so the voltage kept zonking out my invertor. Max voltage is 425 and its been getting over 500 and tripping out. So lost a fair few days of generation. Pleased with working out the trouble myself, as the installer couldnt work it out :) am learning slowly. Restringed now to two separate mppt's and voltage around 250.

4kw FIT system produced 152.4kwh
5.45kw Synsynk system produced 156.1kwh

Roof angle 33' and due south facing

High voltage kills inverters.

Its the sum of the open circuit panel voltage plus 5% or 10% for cold winter days as colder temps increases voltage.

If the installer is working off max power voltage, oh dear, oh dear, your lucky its still working. :fight:

Open circuit voltage 49.7v per panel, formally 10 on one string and going above 500v at times then zonking, now split to two strings and happily sitting around 225-250. Found Sunsynk tech support very helpful too

Cheapskate installer likely didnt want to run two cables, served him right though, had to come back at his expense and correct it on a rainy day with 45mph winds.

Beats me; my WSW facing 4kW FIT system produced 103.6kWh
The SE facing 1.8kW system 55kWh

February:

Solar: 231kWh
Diesel Generator: 53kWh
Consumption: 228kWh

System Efficiency: (231kWh+53kWh) = 284kWh - 228kWh = 80%

Last Month: (January)

Solar: 173kWh
Diesel Generator: 180kWh
Consumption: 275kWh

System Efficiency: (173kWh+180kWh) = 353kWh - 275kWh = 78%

Solaredge 114kWh
Victron 176kWh
Hoymiles 38kWh
Enphase 4.26kWh
Graig Fatha WT 812 kwh

1,144kWh RE generation minus 38kWh Hoymiles = 1106kWh solo home gen.

1,431kWh electricity bought from grid is 43.5% self generated RE in the monthly mix & Zero gas or liquid fuels (filled the diesel van maybe two months ago). :)

Al, Had a look at the barge data, looks like a nice day in London. That graphic is SO cool! 8-)

February squeaked in above PVGIS for the main system - I thought it was going to be miles off a week ago!
158kWh, same as last year - PVGIS is 150kWh
Hoymiles Man Cave Solar 14kWh from the 18th - just need to add the other 2 panels :D

A modest but welcome 84kWh here from the main West array and 18kWh for the south facing panels so an average daily contribution to the house of 3.5kWh which is more than I was expecting considering the amount of time we spent in the low cloud base this month.

No low cloud today though, just a bitterly cold breeze and snow!

I got 90.6 kWh as against 97 on my quote - which says they don't take account of the shading from my chimney anyway.

February 2024 weather was worse than last year, but still nearly 50% of house consumption came from PV so I won't complain too much.
