Changing FIT supplier

#1

Post by ivan »

A year ago, I reported OVO to the Energy Ombudsman due to failings dealing with FIT systems. It's now been escalated to Ofgem, as they have refused to engage with the Ombudsman for the last two months, and failed to comply with Ombudsman's decision. I really want to move them to a different FIT supplier - ideally EON-Next, as they seem pretty good and pay up promptly...but they've told me they can only do that if they supply electricity at the FIT address. Are there any other good FIT Providers that will allow me to move to them regardless of who supplies at the property, or is this an industry-wide thing now? Eon-Next said they changed their rules to restrict this about a year ago.

Good Energy is our FIT supplier and we don't use them for any supply to our property. Whether this would be the case for a new account I don't know but I have deliberately kept our FIT away from our energy supplier.

I have generally not had any issues with good energy. They can be slow to respond and they are slow to pay the FIT payment from what I can gather from other people - but they are generally reliable, which is the main thing I am after.

I was with SSE then automatically changed to OVO.
Not had any issues, just email them meter reading and payment is always at the correct interval.

Wonder why the difference with the same company

I'm with EON for FIT and have been since 2010 as they were my electricity supplier back then. They are excellent in that respect and I can't fault them. Got my payment by bank transfer on Friday, meter reading submitted last Sunday. I'm actually back with them for supply now as I like the 7-hour cheap period they have with EON-Drive.

If you are that keen to have your FIT with them why not switch supply for a few months and then it can happen?

Problem I've got is that the FIT installation is on someone else's house - so I'd have to get them to switch electric supplier, and that might not be what they want to do!
