Mad March

Post by nowty »

After a partially cloudy start today, todays solar did almost live up to expectations of the sunny forecast.

38.65 kWh which is a PB for 2023, around 7 kWh more than the best day I achieved last month. :D
But it did not manage to beat 41 kWh I generated around the same time of year on 1st March 2021.

16.9kW PV > 101MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 19MWh generated
5 Other RE Coop's
105kWh EV storage
60kWh Home battery storage
40kWh Thermal storage
GSHP + A2A HP's
Rain water use > 490 m3

Not yet as I still have a lot of heating demand. But this is the time of year when I start to turn down the charge rate on the home battery stack if the forecast look promising the next day. Or reduce heating hours on the storage heaters if its mild.

But more cold coming next week for us all, luckily its a beast from the North instead of the East so wont be too bad but its going to be a shock for a few days.

The energy price website I regularly look at says today,
https://zenergi.co.uk/market-watch/

"Colder temperatures are set to strengthen as we progress through the week. The 8th and 9th March. Those are the dates to put a big red circle around and wear the ‘big coat’ those days. This is the peak of the cold spell, where temperatures will fall 5 or 6 degrees below seasonal norms."

I start the day with around 65% soc in the stack, a goldilocks, spot I've found that works out nicely.

It's been snowing on & off this morning. Just back from felling and picking up a load of logs and the sun broke free two minutes after arrival home. Thought 'let's see then'...

4.5kW! HWT is on and battery is charging fast. That's a first for the year. Only lasted 10 minutes but it was outstanding to see. :D

Snows back.
Edit- new pb for 2023 (5.657kW)

The cold has not arrived here yet and even in the heavy cloud there is still over 1kW coming in which half runs the heatpumps, the rest coming from the stack. Currently on the GSHP and the downstairs A2A HP.

VB back to over 100% after todays Ripple credit, its been a bizarre energy month financially.

Nowty, that's a great result, your Ripple payments covering your electricity usage.

Whilst not covering my electricity fully, the other week I calculated that my electricity export payments and Ripple credits meant I had only £124.12 to pay for my electricity for the previous 11 months.
3.87kWp PV
10.24kWp PV SolarEdge system
Tesla Powerwall 2
100 x 47mm Navitron tubes (still being installed!) Now likely to be removed for more PV.
MK2 PV router DHW diverter
Morso 5kW WBS
Vaillant AroTherm 10kW ASHP
Nissan Leaf

QUICK TURN EVERYTHING ON!

Washing machine, tumble drier, EV (at 6A), all going and I'm still exporting!
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)
