Although most things can be sorted by a hard reboot. Disconnect terminals at 12v crank and LB for 5 minutes then reconnect. Crank battery first.
But perhaps your contact could still help us figure things out?
Sorry, can't give out his info to a newly joined member potentially stranded and looking for help. Sounds harsh I know but he's 80+ miles away and no guarantee to be paid for his time. My advice would be to try a Google search for motorhome sales places and go from there. Sorry, the guy I know does residential. 😞 I'm sure the board here will try and help.

What's the problem? There are a few Victron owning lads on here.
Victron multiplus 12/500/20-16 Inverter - "Overload" notification and refuses to start- We spoke to our original supplier who got us to test various bits, all fine, but still not starting/working. Any help from the community greatly appreciated.

why did it overload?
What was going on when it shut down
What firmware are you using/is it updated?
Bypass the MP. Reset the MP or at least power it off.
Switch it back on, then reconnect.
If that doesnt do it, then i have no clue.
If it does Update firmware.

Victron have a supurb helpline.

I recall, I think it was Tinbum who had initial problems connecting up the newer pylontechs to a large inverter because of the large current inrush to charge up the capacitors in the inverter and the pylontechs shutdown with over current because the newer BMS is a bit more sensitive.

It might be as simple as that and the workaround is to use a resistor, long thin wire or similar to get over the initial current inrush.

Have you disconnected the load at the inverter and tried starting it like that? Just thinking worst case that could be a short somewhere that is giving the overload. I don't think the inrush current is relevant here as the overload warning is on the load (AC) side and not the DC.

Thank you all for your helpful answers. We have tried everything, so looks like we need to return it to the supplier for further testing (or replacement).

Hi,

I am new to the forum and have been wanting to install a PV + battery system for my home and would like to fit a Victron system.

I contacted CCL Components Ltd. in Glasgow for information on Victron installers in N.E. Fife but haven't heard back from them and was wondering if any of you know anyone I can contact in my area ?

Many thanks in advance.
