Solcast is free as a standalone for individual users, and IIRC is also the basis for the Victron s/w.

I use the app mostly but remembered that there is a lot more detail and graphery on the desktop version. I particularly like the solar playback of the panels over a chosen timeline. There is more going on than the photos show as I've cropped for privacy but it will give you an idea of what's available. I have no idea how Solaredge stacks up against other options as not seen any others..

Thanks, food for thought me thinks.

Just getting impatient now to determine if I've got cash for the static stuff in October (or rather when they can fit me in ^^)

I still want to play with the micro inverters, I might get a Hoymiles or perhaps an enphase (assuming I can get some info out of the unit without all the other envoy-s paraphernalia), I saw a teardown of an enphase IQ7 it looks a very well built piece of kit with less of the heath robinson feel of the WVC :)

I will likely look out over Winter for an extremely un-needed two panel extension on my workshop shed. Would have to be secondhand though as its not really needed and I'd be doing it purely for the fun. I expect the WMC to be written off.

Looking forward to seeing which way you go. I'll be over at No1's today to see the lifetime count. Hoping to have broken 25kWh's. :D

The 800W capacity on the Hoymiles is great as we are seeing 600W regular (its not running hot) and that is enough for me to look at running in a low Wattage wall mounted panel heater to take the sting off and also mostly manage the fridge & freezer units. Something like 10.30hrs to 16.00hrs for the wall heater would be the goal. Slightly less lifting for the storage heaters when they kick in later in year.

I've had a bit of a play with my emonTX4 monitoring system late last night and managed to start extracting semi useful charts out of it.

My hope is that I'll start to remember my web page development knowledge from 20 years ago to grab data from various disparate system and display them on a couple of very "eye friendly" charts for the wife and more in depth data for me.

I've been collecting data since the end of Aug waiting for some time to sit down and learn how to extract meaningful info from that database, the Voltage/temps and utilisation have all been fairly simple but extracting info from the pulse and showing daily usage has eluded me. But a few hours last night rtfm has helped me no end...who knew.

I can easily set up D/W/M/Y imported electricity and everything in between, I'm pretty sure when I start generating PV in earnest I'll get the export values potentially to the grid and to the batteries, but aside from daily/monthly/yearly power generation what sort of data is worth capturing for Solar ?

At least I've been able to understand my exact peak and offpeak usage whereas British Gas are still unable to after their botched website update/upgrade something a few weeks back. albeit with the wrong units showing. I'll fix that time permitting.
