Re: The Primary Energy Fallacy

And why replacing fossil fuels with renewables, heat pumps and EVs isn't as daunting as it might seem. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/primary-energy-fallacy-sam-hamels-nz2he/?trackingId=HZidfveXl9vhaRua6ZnWHQ%3D%3D I'm sure that we have had a link to this article and discussed it before, maybe in t...

Re: Solar mandatory for newbuild from 2027

Persimmon chucking 3 panels per house around my way.. Better than nothing but could be the whole roof, it probably ticks an EPC box It lets them skimp on insulation elsewhere! I see houses with enough room for a dozen panels fitted with 5. One row of 3 and a row of 2 beneath. How hard would it've b...

Persimmon chucking 3 panels per house around my way.. Better than nothing but could be the whole roof, it probably ticks an EPC box I have noticed very variable numbers of panels on sister new-builds. It made me wonder whether the house came with maybe a couple as standard (so all the trunking/duct...

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/may/01/solar-panels-fitted-all-new-build-homes-england-by-2027 Let's hope the big building companies don't just do the bare minimum tick-box installs, or hopelessly compromised systems with inherent shading. You beat me to it! Almost all new homes in Eng...

Re: April Generataion 2025

GivEnergy have had issues with their data so no accurate figure. I use the "meter" tab on the "My Inverter" dashboard option. I think it takes the data from the smart meter, anyway it agrees exactly with what I think should have happened, and with my Octopus bill. (screenshot of...

Re: April Generataion 2025

419 kWh, 56.6 kW per kWp and 109% of predicted. I have to find a way of using more power (or increase my peak export) as my non-peak export isn't worth a lot! Solar tubes are getting the cylinder scalding hot anyway...

Re: Another substation fire in London

UK Power Networks said the substation remained operational and there had been no interruption to the electricity supply. Really? Maybe it was just a tank of transformer oil out the back which caught fire then! Happened in the early hours, IOG incentive overload perhaps. Seriously though, ...

Re: Half price IOG tonight

This seems to just be for EV people. Maybe those of us with plain domestic batteries haven't got enough capacity to be worth including in the experiment (or whatever Octopus are up to.)
I'm guessing that EVs with 10 times my battery capacity can have more effect on the grid for less admin costs
